This Privacy Policy explains how Smoke Signal Co. ("Smoke Signal," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with our website (smokesignalco.com) and our lead-capture service for chimney and fireplace companies (the "Service").
Information we collect
From chimney business owners and prospects. When you request a free website report or contact us, we collect the information you provide — typically your business name, website address, email address, and phone number.
From homeowners using our clients' websites. Our Service installs a small lead-capture tool on the websites of the chimney companies we work with. When a homeowner voluntarily submits their email address or phone number through that tool (for example, to receive a Chimney Safety Checklist or to be texted back), we collect that contact information, along with the page it was submitted from and basic technical details such as browser type.
Automatically. Like most websites, we and our providers may collect limited technical data (such as IP address and device/browser information) and use local storage so a pop-up isn't shown to the same visitor repeatedly.
How we use information
- To generate and deliver your free website report;
- To deliver requested materials (such as the Chimney Safety Checklist) to homeowners;
- To notify the relevant chimney company of a new lead, so they can follow up;
- To provide, operate, support, and improve the Service;
- To communicate with you and respond to your requests.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the Service:
- With the chimney company whose website generated a lead — sharing a homeowner's contact request with that business is the purpose of the Service.
- With service providers who operate our infrastructure on our behalf — for example, our email delivery provider and our website/hosting and database provider. They may only use the information to provide services to us.
- When required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
Email and your choices
Every marketing or follow-up email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us at the address below, and we will honor applicable rights under laws such as the CCPA and GDPR where they apply to you.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes, then delete or de-identify it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Service is intended for businesses and adults. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
